The "Morning-After-Pill" - How Effective is it?

A lot of ladies, both young and old use Emergency contraception, also known as The-Morning-After-Pill and/or Post-Coital contraception. For those who do not know what it is, let me explain.
Okay, so you had sex without protection and realised you just may get pregnant amd need to quickly take something to prevent pregnancy. What do you do? Emergency contraception. Or you used a condom during sex but after the act, you realised the condom bursted or slipped off, what do you do? Emergency contraception! Or you normally use combined contraceptive pills (the tablets you take everyday to prevent pregnancy) but you missed some doses and you had sex and need extra protection. What do you take? Emergency contraception.
There are 2 types of emergency contraception available:
1. The hormonal pill (commonly called postinor in Nigeria).
Its more commonly known and used. It has to be taken within 72 hours of unprotected sex to be effective. May be taken as one single tablet or two tablets.
2. Intra-uterine device (IUD).
This is a less commonly known method of emergency contraception and actually more effective. You put a device inside your womb (uterus) as a means of preventing pregnancy after unprotected sex. It is effective for up to 5 days following the anticipated day of ovulation and can cover multiple episodes of intercourse in the same menstrual cycle.
So exactly how effective is emergency contraception?
Well, I have honestly met several people that said they took emergency pills and still got pregnant. I wont disagree with you, it is not so effective. Even the literature agree that emergency contraception is not 100% effective ( no contraception is) however,  emergency contraception will prevent three-quarters of pregnancy that would have otherwise occurred. So, using the pill is better than using nothing at all. Using Intra-uterine device is way more effective. If you are sexually active, then you should not rely on emergency contraception but consider more effective methods.
Lets interact people. Have you ever used emergency pills and still got pregnant? Please comment, ask questions.
